A slanderer is someone who makes false statements of someone or something and spreads it to others with the aim of hurting the reputation of that thing or that person. This is an extremely bad deed and should not be done to anyone unless you hold credible proof or evidence regarding your theory. For the past several years, many times before and especially during the time of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), conspirators have been making false and hurtful statements regarding Islam and spreading it to as much people as they can; thus, adopting the rule of slanderers. This article will focus on the 104th chapter of the Holy Quran which talks of the wealth gatherers and slanderers. You can also last 20 surahs download it as well in the form of app.
Surat Al-Humazah
There is a surah (chapter) in the Holy Quran where Allah tells us what will happen to slanderers and those who take great pride in possessing great wealth. Indeed such people pave the path for their own destruction by indulging in such foolish pursuits because wealth does not make us a better person. The translation of the important ayahs (verses) of this surah is:
“Woe to every slanderer, defamer, Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap); He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal. Nay! he shall most certainly be hurled into the crushing disaster, And what will make you realize what the crushing disaster is? It is the fire kindled by Allah, Which rises above the hearts. Surely it shall be closed over upon them, In extended columns.” (The Quran 104:1-9)
All men must understand that this world is only transitory. Everything that we buy or acquire as a gift will be left behind us when we die. We take nothing to the grave. We would be wrapped in a white cloth in our raves and nothing else. Acquiring wealth in this world and feeling proud over it is like that of a person carrying a briefcase with its bottom open. It is because all this wealth will come of no use to us.
Love for wealth leads to destruction
From the verses above, we see that Allah greatly despises such fools who take comfort in knowing that they have great wealth and think it to be a protection for them against mishap. They must understand that nothing is difficult for Allah and all must Allah to be the only entity in which we can take comfort. Allah also tells the consequence of such people in the verses above that he will be made to suffer in the great fires of Hell. Such consequences should be enough for anyone to come to right path leading to heaven.
Another example
We can also learn this from Surah Al-Kahf of the Holy Quran where we read about a man blessed with great wealth but made the mistake of taking pride in it and boasting about it. He was then made to suffer the wrath of Allah and Allah deprived him of all that he had. He realized his mistake later but only when it was too late.
Conclusion
The only things that we should take comfort in are our aimaal (deeds). These are the only things that we’ll be taking to our graves. If they are good and one of those that Allah and His messenger Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) has told to be the right ones and beneficial for us then we’ll be successful and allowed to enter, otherwise Hell would be our only eternal place, in the grave and in the life after judgment day.
